Pilot Training Gets a Boost with Air India Amravati Academy

New Delhi, October 30: Air India has secured DGCA clearance for its flying academy at Belora Airport in Amravati, Maharashtra. The approval is expected to give a fresh push to pilot training in India and bolster the country's aviation sector at a time of rising demand.

The facility will be the first flying academy established by an Indian airline in the country. Its training programmes will rely on 31 single-engine aircraft and three twin-engine aircraft.

Spread across roughly 10 acres, the academy will house digitally enabled classrooms, living quarters for students, a digital operations centre and a dedicated maintenance unit. The institute aims to offer trainee pilots world-class facilities while adhering to the highest standards of safety and operational excellence.

Air India described the academy as a key component of its wider effort to develop skilled manpower and infrastructure for India's aviation industry. It will complement the airline's 6 lakh square foot training academy in Gurugram, which is regarded as the largest aviation training centre in South Asia.

The airline believes these investments will help address the fast-growing requirement for pilots in India and advance the national goal of becoming more self-reliant in aviation. Air India said the Amravati academy would equip future pilots with training of global quality and play a meaningful role in preparing trained human resources for the country's quickly expanding aviation sector.

In a message posted on X, Air India said it was proud of the DGCA approval for the Air India Flying Academy at Belora Airport. It highlighted that this is the first flying academy set up by an Indian airline in the country. With world-class training infrastructure and a fleet of 34 training aircraft, the airline said the academy will help strengthen India's pilot training capacity and support the growth of its aviation sector.
