Pilgrims Seek Blessings at Alopshankari Shaktipeeth Amid Mahashtami Rituals
During the Mahashtami of Navratri, thousands of pilgrims converged on the Alopshankari Shaktipeeth in Prayagraj’s Alopi Bagh area. The day began with the Mangala Aarti, after which a continuous stream of devotees entered the sanctum to receive darshan of the goddess’s symbolic cradle.
The crowd, comprising men, women, senior citizens and youngsters, presented coconuts, scarves and floral garlands as offerings. Many performed Kanya Puja, feeding girls and praying for the welfare of their households and the larger community. The temple’s lore holds that the right hand of Sati fell here, giving the shrine its name. To maintain safety, authorities installed iron barricades, positioned women police officers at key points, and monitored the scene via cameras. Outside, stalls selling puja supplies and sweets remained bustling throughout the event.
