Five Bengaluru residents have approached the Karnataka High Court, asserting that the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in a handful of assembly segments is both arbitrary and unconstitutional. The petition points out that the Election Commission of India is already executing a Phase‑III intensive revision across the country, and the state’s separate SIR amounts to a duplicate verification exercise.
The court has asked the Karnataka government, the state election commission, and the central election commission to respond, with the next hearing slated for July 15.
