Performance politics becomes benchmark under Modi, Amit Shah writes
Union Home and Co‑operation Minister Amit Shah used his X account on October 7 to celebrate Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 25‑year milestone of service. Shah asserted that Modi’s approach – what he dubbed "politics of performance" – has set a new standard for political accountability and results‑driven governance.
Modi’s political journey began on October 7, 2001, when he was sworn in as Gujarat’s chief minister. Over the next 25 years, his agenda has consistently focussed on lifting the poor, empowering women, supporting youth and ensuring prosperity across all sections of society.
Shah cited concrete examples: the speedy reconstruction of Kutch after the devastating earthquake, the Jyotigram Yojana that delivered uninterrupted power to every village, and the aggressive promotion of solar energy and industrial investment that achieved an agricultural growth rate exceeding 8 percent in Gujarat. At the national level, Modi translated this model into achievements ranging from space exploration to maritime security and enhanced diplomatic outreach.
According to Shah, more than 250 million Indians have moved out of poverty, countless families now own solid houses, receive health coverage up to ₹5 lakh, have LPG connections and tap water at their doorsteps. He added that India’s economy is accelerating in sectors such as manufacturing, digital transactions, startups, semiconductors, defence production and renewable energy.
In a period marked by wars and instability, Shah praised India’s emergence as a leading voice for global peace. He said Modi has sparked confidence across the nation and pledged a vision to make India a world leader in every field by 2047. Shah concluded by stating that joining the prime minister’s mission is both a great honour and a source of pride.
