Patna to Host State-Level Tribute to Shri Krishna Singh

A state-level programme marking the birth anniversary of Shri Krishna Singh will be held in Patna on October 25, with Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge scheduled to attend as chief guest. Shri Krishna Singh was Bihar's first Chief Minister and is also known as Bihar Kesari.

Bapu Sabhagar in Patna will host the event. Congress leaders plan to use the occasion to pay homage to his role in the freedom struggle, his commitment to social justice and his contribution to the building of modern Bihar.

The event was confirmed at a joint press conference by Congress Rajya Sabha member Akhilesh Prasad Singh and Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee president Rajesh Ram. They said Kharge will be the main guest and keynote speaker at the programme.

The party has indicated that Kharge is expected to reach Patna airport at 11 am on October 25 by private aircraft and travel directly to the venue. His presence is expected to bring together Congress leaders, party workers and supporters for the state-wide gathering.

Leaders underlined Shri Krishna Singh's contribution to the political, social and economic transformation of Bihar. Known as Shri Babu, he devoted his life and public service to the welfare of the weak, the oppressed and those on the margins of society, Akhilesh Prasad Singh said. He also referred to Shri Babu's role in the national freedom movement and in shaping the state after Independence.

Rajesh Ram focused on Shri Babu's role in the abolition of the zamindari system, which he called an important step toward social and economic reform. He also highlighted Shri Babu's initiative to allow Dalits entry into the historic Deoghar temple, describing it as a major milestone in the battle against caste-based discrimination and social exclusion.

According to the Bihar Congress, the event is meant to acquaint the youth and the general public with Shri Babu's ideals, political legacy and commitment to social equality. The party also wants to bring attention to his work in institution-building and development in Bihar.

Rajesh Ram appealed to citizens across the state, along with intellectuals, social workers and Congress workers, to attend the event in large numbers. He said the programme would be a chance to honour Shri Babu's contributions and to revive the values of social justice, equality and inclusive development that are linked to his legacy.

The October 25 event is being organised as a statewide tribute to one of Bihar's most prominent political figures. Through it, the Congress hopes to place his historic contributions and ideals firmly back in public discussion.
