Patna Night Accident: Uncontrolled Scorpion Vehicle Runs Over Crowd
In the early hours of Sunday, a black Scorpion truck travelling at excessive speed careened down Atal Path, part of Patna’s bustling arterial network. The driver lost command of the vehicle, causing it to overturn and tumble approximately 80 metres before halting. Pedestrians walking back from a local Durga Puja fair were caught in the vehicle’s path.
Two members of the walking group succumbed to their injuries, while several others were left with varying degrees of wounds; some remain in critical condition. First responders rushed the victims to Patna’s Sahyog Hospital, with the two fatalities later transferred to MCH for further assessment, where they were declared dead.
Police have completed the verification of the overturned vehicle and are currently probing the accident’s cause, focusing on speed, driver negligence, and possible mechanical issues. The incident has ignited public anxiety over nighttime traffic safety on major city routes.
