Patiala CJM Issues BNSS Section 223 Summons to Health Minister and Others

The Chief Judicial Magistrate of Patiala has formally served a summons in accordance with BNSS Section 223 to Dr. Balbir Singh, Punjab's health minister, his son Rahul Saini, and four additional individuals. The summons are linked to the case titled Shweta Jindal versus Dr. Balbir Singh.

The matter originates from a complaint lodged at the Tripadi police station in Patiala. The court has directed every accused to appear before the magistrate on 20 July, either personally or via a duly authorized lawyer.

Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita addresses criminal liability for the alleged conduct. The magistrate warned that failure to comply could result in further legal consequences, including possible detention.

The six persons named include the health minister, his son, office bearer Jasbir Gandhi, Ward‑14 councilor Gurkṛpāl Singh, mobile‑shop owner Gurpreet Singh, and a member of the AAP Punjab. Their presence is essential for the court to examine the accusations and move the case forward.
