Pathan Seeks Probe into Jarange Claims, Strict Action in Mumbai
Mumbai: AIMIM leader Waris Pathan has raised a range of issues, from the Uttar Pradesh election campaign to allegations by Manoj Jarange and recent firing incidents in Mumbai. He accused Akhilesh Yadav of focusing on Muslim votes and demanded transparency and firm action from authorities.
On the coming Uttar Pradesh polls, Pathan said AIMIM is witnessing strong participation at its public meetings. He said party chief Asaduddin Owaisi enjoys growing public support and that the party expects a good electoral outcome.
Pathan questioned the Samajwadi Party chief's decision to meet Azam Khan, who is in jail. He claimed AIMIM had already been standing with Azam Khan and that Akhilesh Yadav had only now recalled him. He asked why the SP leader had not visited earlier and suggested the meeting was intended to attract Muslim voters. He added that the community is politically aware and its intelligence should not be underestimated.
He explained that AIMIM wants to strengthen Muslim representation and empowerment in Uttar Pradesh. Pathan argued that despite the presence of several Samajwadi Party MLAs and MPs, community-specific concerns are not adequately voiced. He said his party aims to send lawmakers to the assembly who will pursue justice and rights.
Regarding Manoj Jarange's accusations, Pathan termed them a serious matter. He called for a comprehensive inquiry, public disclosure of findings, and appropriate action against anyone found involved. He maintained that the truth of the allegations could be established only after an impartial investigation, and that the process should remain transparent.
When asked about Sanjay Raut's remark on Amit Shah, Pathan said the intention behind the statement should be asked of Raut. He said he did not possess much information about the matter.
On the firing case involving Tiger Shroff, Pathan demanded strict action from Mumbai Police. He noted that if the force acts with firmness, such activities can be stopped. He pointed to earlier decades, saying similar incidents had occurred in the 1980s and 1990s but were met with decisive police action. He warned that open daytime shootings in Mumbai are once again creating an atmosphere of fear.
Pathan also mentioned the firing outside Salman Khan's residence and the murder of Baba Siddique. He asked why there was delay in acting if the police had information about the accused and their motives. He said that if film personalities do not feel safe, concerns over the security of common citizens are understandable. He urged the Maharashtra government and Mumbai Police to halt such incidents and take harsh action against those responsible.
