Parliamentary Session Disrupted as Ministers Delay Response to July 20 Incident

Delhi, August 12 – Opposition leaders have launched a fresh assault on Union Home Minister Amit Shah, claiming the central government deliberately stalled the monsoon session by postponing a response to the July 20 police crackdown on student protesters. They argue that a timely answer could have been given at least seven days before the scheduled debate, preventing the repeated halts that plagued the session.

The Home Minister asserted his readiness to answer all questions, while accusing the opposition of blocking discussion. MPs from Trinamool Congress, AAP and the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha echoed the demand for the minister’s presence in the House and a clear statement on police conduct.

The opposition maintains that the delay was a strategic move to keep the session in limbo, wasting valuable legislative time and causing public confusion.
