Parliamentary Minister Targets ‘Regime Change’ Surge, Urges Nation to Reject Treachery

Delhi, 16 Oct – Union Minister Kiran Rijiju used his X profile to caution the public against forgiving those who betray the nation. He invoked a familiar proverb, emphasizing that a traitor should never receive forgiveness.

The warning arrived after Rijiju posted a press‑conference video of senior lawyer Prashant Bhushan, who explicitly voiced support for a "regime change" in the capital. The minister framed the demand as an attack on the constitutional framework.

Rijiju also resurfaced a 2011 interview where Bhushan said Kashmiri separatists could be allowed to pursue independence, further intensifying the political controversy.

In a subsequent post, the minister contrasted "mind‑Naxals" with "patriotic Indians," suggesting that the country is drawn into a battle between those upholding the constitution and those seeking disorder.

The exchange has amplified the debate surrounding the meaning of "regime change," with governing party officials accusing opposition figures of trying to destabilise the elected government.
