Parliamentary drama over alleged Ayodhya temple donation theft sparks VHP outrage

In a controversial episode inside the Lok Sabha, a group of opposition MPs, dressed in saffron robes, staged a performance that claimed a portion of donations for the Ayodhya Ram Temple had been stolen. Independent MP Rajesh Ranjan (Pappu Yadav) sat beside the donation boxes placed near the Makara Gate and pretended to pocket money, while other legislators, including Rahul Gandhi, added cash to the boxes.

The World Hindu Council condemned the act as an affront to Hindu faith and a misuse of the parliamentary premises. Senior saints and officials of the Ayodhya temple demanded immediate removal of the legislators from the House and wrote to the President and Speaker for action.

Surendra Jain, VHP’s international joint secretary, likened the stunt to a “theatrical theft” and requested the Speaker to take “the harshest possible penalty”. He warned that the council will pursue legal steps if the matter is not addressed, emphasizing that the sentiment of millions of Hindus cannot be ignored.
