Parliament Passes 2026 Paper Leak Prevention Bill, NDA Says It Protects Future Generations
The Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha have jointly cleared the Lok Pariksha (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill‑2026, a legislative effort designed to curb the illegal circulation of examination papers. NDA leaders welcomed the move, asserting that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s administration has always placed the welfare of students at the forefront.
Uttar Pradesh minister Narendra Kashyap described the bill as a direct outcome of the prime minister’s resolve to eradicate paper‑leak problems that jeopardize students’ academic prospects. The legislation prescribes fines ranging from five lakh to ten crore rupees, imprisonment of five to ten years, and a mandatory two‑month timeline for case disposal.
Bihar BJP president Sanjay Saravgi highlighted the law’s robust punitive framework, while Bihar minister Dilip Kumar Jaiswal underscored its importance in delivering timely justice to those found guilty. Opposition critics, including BJP member Mrutyunjay Tiwari, were labeled as politically motivated, ignoring the pressing concerns of the youth.
JD(U) national spokesperson Rajiv Ranjan Prasad noted that despite opposition resistance, the NDA’s unified effort ensured the bill’s passage, and it now proceeds to the President for assent.
