Parliamentary deadlock continues as BJP blames opposition for using student movement against government

The Lok Sabha witnessed another day of procedural deadlock as the Bharatiya Janata Party accused opposition figures, especially Rahul Gandhi, of weaponising student protests to stall the government's functioning. The party highlighted that Home Minister Amit Shah is already equipped with detailed answers to address the concerns raised by the opposition concerning the July 20 "Parliament Chalo" demonstration, which saw reports of police excesses.

Kiran Rijiju, the Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, told media that the government had prepared a point‑by‑point reply and was ready for an exhaustive discussion that could extend over two days. He reiterated that the Home Minister would be present to field questions on every issue raised.

Giriraj Singh added that the government and the Speaker have repeatedly offered to discuss the matter, but the opposition appears intent on creating chaos rather than seeking solutions. Singh also targeted the Congress for what he described as a "double standard," urging them to pull out support from the Jharkhand coalition, dismiss Hemant Soren, or step down from the Lok Sabha opposition leadership.

BJP MP Tejasvi Surya warned that using students as a political pawn undermines the nation's priorities and called on Rahul Gandhi to stop exploiting the student agenda for partisan gains.
