Parental disrespect may trigger salary slash in Assam, VHP applauds move

The Assam chief minister's recent declaration that a ten percent salary cut could be imposed on government employees who disrespect their parents has received backing from the Vishva Hindu Parishad. Spokesperson Vinod Bansal told reporters that India’s ancient traditions demand reverence for elders, and any breach calls for corrective action. He described the proposed deduction as essential to curb a rising culture of parental disregard. Bansal also targeted the Congress party, alleging that its internal contradictions make it unfit to discuss the issue. He asserted that the policy will serve as a deterrent, ensuring that future generations uphold familial respect.
