Panchkula Classroom Assault: PGIMER Director Visits 6-Year-Old

PGIMER Chandigarh Director Prof Vivek Lal has visited a six-year-old girl undergoing treatment at the institute following an alleged assault at a Panchkula school. The incident occurred on October 28.

During the visit, Prof Lal met the medical team handling the case and sought updates on the girl's health, medical status and improvement. He voiced deep concern over the incident and assured the family that the institute would provide all possible help for the child to recover.

In a special humanitarian decision, the Director ordered that the child's complete treatment be provided free of cost, and that the institute would bear the entire expenditure. Along with covering treatment costs, PGIMER has arranged a private room for her, so that she has rest, privacy and proper care while she remains in hospital.

Prof Lal stated that PGIMER's responsibilities are not restricted to medical treatment alone. He said that standing alongside patients and their families during hard times is also part of the institute's duty.

He underlined that PGIMER is committed to offering this child and her family the finest medical care and every necessary assistance.

The girl was brought to the institute with serious injuries after an eight-year-old boy allegedly attacked her inside a classroom at a Panchkula school on October 28. She was later referred to PGIMER, a leading medical institution in Chandigarh, for advanced care.

For now, a team of experts is treating her. The team is monitoring her condition closely and providing all the medical care she requires.

Following the Director's visit, the institute has assured the family that the child will continue to receive medical and other support throughout her treatment. Officials said the Director will personally supervise her treatment and care.
