Following the opening of the sanctum, priests performed a solemn water abhishek, followed by a ceremonial bathing of Mahakal with panchamrit – a mixture of milk, curd, ghee, sugar and fruit juices. Holy water marked with the syllable "Hari Om" was offered, and the deity was adorned with silver ornaments, om‑shaped talismans, bel leaves, a jeweled crown, and a garland of rudraksha beads. The grand maha‑aarti concluded the rites, allowing devotees to receive the blessed ash aarti.
