In a major boost to the NDA’s election preparations, AIADMK chief E.K. Palaniswami revealed plans to wrap up seat-sharing discussions with the BJP and fellow allies in just four days. Made during a media interaction on Friday, the update underscores accelerating momentum in coalition negotiations for the Tamil Nadu legislative polls.
Palaniswami quashed speculations of friction within the alliance ranks. He assured that all parties would soon agree on a viable formula. ‘In four days, you’ll know everything. We’ll confirm the seats for each party,’ he promised, highlighting the hassle-free nature of the ongoing dialogues.
Prioritizing electoral success, the seat distribution will factor in each partner’s proven capabilities and winning prospects. ‘Our goal is to assign seats where allies have a solid chance of winning,’ Palaniswami explained, outlining a pragmatic strategy to bolster the front’s overall performance.
This comes a day after his strategic huddle with Amit Shah in the national capital, focusing on Tamil Nadu’s dynamic political scenario and campaign tactics. Piyush Goyal, BJP’s point man for the state, may arrive Saturday to push the agreement over the line.
Firmly rejecting alliance rumors with Vijay’s TVK, Palaniswami reiterated, ‘No discussions have taken place with TVK. Such news lacks foundation.’ He made it clear that the NDA framework is finalized, leaving no room for new entrants.
On the Shanmugam-Nayanthara row, the leader called for an end to the debate. ‘He has acknowledged his error and expressed regret. We should move on,’ Palaniswami noted.
With elections on the horizon, this timely pact could reshape Tamil Nadu’s political battleground, positioning the NDA as a formidable challenger to the incumbents.
