A gruesome family dispute in Jharkhand’s Palamu escalated into murder when a man allegedly knifed his father-in-law to death and wounded two others on Friday. The violent clash in Chhatarpur area has prompted a full-scale police operation to apprehend the fugitive.
Three years into his marriage with Rita Devi, Lavkush Yadav from Soba Barewa village faced mounting strife. Rita, originally from Chhatarpur, had retreated to her maiden home amid persistent issues. Lavkush’s return from outstation work set the stage for confrontation.
He insisted Rita leave with him, but her denial sparked a furious exchange. In a fit of rage, he slashed at her with a knife. Sunil Yadav, Rita’s father, stepped in to de-escalate, only to be brutally stabbed multiple times. Kavita Kumari, Rita’s sister, attempting to intervene, was also stabbed severely.
Sunil succumbed instantly to his wounds. Lavkush bolted from the house before law enforcement arrived. Officers inspected the scene, secured the corpse for autopsy, and rushed the victims to Medinagar’s medical college facility where they fight for life.
Police have filed charges and are conducting raids across possible hideouts. This incident highlights the urgent need for mediation in domestic rows before they turn lethal, shaking the rural tranquility of Palamu.
