Over 30 Cases Linked to Suspect Arrested in Uttar Pradesh Police Encounter

The recent police encounter in Itawa has brought to light a sprawling criminal record belonging to the arrested individual, Anuj Shakya. According to the Uttar Pradesh police, more than thirty criminal cases have been registered against him in various jurisdictions.

The charges span a wide spectrum: robbery, theft, attempts to cause death, illegal possession of firearms, and violations under the Gangster Act. Specific cases have been logged in the Usrahara police station in 2023 for robbery, attempted murder, and arms violations. Additional filings exist in Fatehganj, Maudervaza, Mohammadabad, Nawabganj, and several stations within Mainpuri district, such as Kishan, Karhal, Dannahar, Kurra, Bichwan, and Kotwali.

Further records from Kannauj’s Chibramau and Auraiya’s Airwakatra police stations also list multiple charges against Shakya. The comprehensive nature of these allegations suggests a long‑standing involvement in organized crime and violent offenses.

Law enforcement officials are now consolidating the evidence from the recent encounter—namely the seized motorcycle, ammunition, and cash—with the existing case files to build a robust prosecution strategy. The SP reiterated that the suspect will face trial under multiple sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Arms Act, ensuring that each alleged offense is addressed in court.
