Over 100 high‑risk spots secured as Greater Noida steps up inspections
Following the heartbreaking death of a child who fell into an uncovered pit, Greater Noida’s municipal body has intensified its safety operations. The chief executive officer, N.G. Ravi Kumar, directed all departmental heads to carry out a city‑wide sweep for open gutters, potholes, manholes and any other accident‑prone sites.
Teams from the Project Division and the Water‑Sewer Division have been dispatched to their assigned work circles. Senior managers are personally overseeing field activities, ensuring that each identified hazard receives immediate treatment – whether that means installing barricades, filling depressions, capping manholes or covering drainage channels.
To date, more than one hundred critical locations have been inspected and fortified. In many places, both provisional and permanent barricades have been installed, open drains have been sealed with grates, and roadside gullies have been covered to protect commuters.
Assistant CEO Sumit Yadav has ordered that this intensive survey continue until every vulnerable point in Greater Noida is fully secured. The administration has declared road safety a non‑negotiable priority and warned that any lapse will attract severe disciplinary action.
Citizens are encouraged to cooperate by reporting any suspicious openings or damaged infrastructure they encounter, enabling the authorities to act quickly and prevent further tragedies.
