In a heated parliamentary showdown, BJP parliamentarians have ridiculed the opposition’s campaign against an unpublished memoir by ex-Army Chief General Manoj Mukund Naravane, branding it a contrived scandal amid a barren issue agenda. The controversy has paralyzed proceedings, drawing sharp rebukes from the ruling party.
Kicking off the counteroffensive, Union Minister Chirag Paswan blamed Rahul Gandhi’s intransigence for derailing the budget session entirely. He decried the opposition’s no-trust motion targeting Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, whom he credited for impartiality. ‘The opposition gets its platform, but Rahul’s ego is stifling dialogue,’ Paswan stated.
Giriraj Singh, another heavyweight, mocked the opposition for inflating a non-issue. ‘The book isn’t out—end of story. Rahul’s deliberately stalling the House, showing zero respect for parliamentary norms,’ he charged.
Ravi Kishan, the firebrand BJP MP, painted the scene as opposition theatrics fueled by bitterness over BJP’s string of electoral triumphs. ‘They can’t stomach Modi’s wins; now they’re clowning around for the world to see,’ he said.
Manoj Tiwari questioned the logic: ‘Love the book so much? Publish it first!’ Arun Govil accused Rahul of rule-breaking and dictating terms, insisting Parliament should tackle people’s woes instead. Manan Kumar Mishra labeled the Speaker no-confidence bid ‘utter rubbish,’ slamming opposition walkouts as taxpayer-funded disruptions.
As tensions simmer, BJP leaders call for mature discourse, warning that such antics only erode public trust in democratic institutions.
