Debt and Delays: Opposition Blames Naidu Government for Wasteful Spending

In a separate press briefing, YSRCP spokesperson Karumuri Venkata Reddy slammed the coalition government’s 26‑month record, describing welfare and development as stalled while debt, corruption and frivolous expenditure surged. He highlighted that the state now carries a debt burden of ₹3.86 lakh crore – roughly ₹14,859 crore a month, ₹495 crore a day, or ₹20.68 crore an hour.

According to the spokesperson, the current administration has borrowed about ₹2.18 lakh crore in the latest budget, of which ₹1.20 lakh crore came through corporate instruments and ₹47,000 crore under the label of the Amaravati project. This borrowing exceeds the ₹3.31 lakh crore amassed over the previous five‑year YSRCP rule, yet funds for promised welfare schemes such as the Adarsh Vidya fund and unemployment allowance remain unavailable.
