Opposition Parties Condemn NC Spokesperson’s Insult to Kashmiri Heritage

The BJP’s Altaf Thakur accused NC spokesperson Tanveer Sadik of lacking any knowledge of Kashmir’s centuries‑old Sufi, saintly and scholarly traditions. Thakur said Sadik’s words were “absolutely intolerable” and amounted to a direct insult to the dignity of Kashmiri culture. He urged the NC to withdraw the remark, apologise and refrain from making politically charged statements that demean the region’s historic legacy. The PDP also called for an unconditional apology, questioning whether the NC would ever acknowledge the hurt caused to the people of Kashmir.
