Opposition Calls for Gyanesh Kumar’s Resignation Amid Festival Season
As India approaches a series of major festivals, Congress leaders warned that the timing of the protest against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar is strategic. Vijay Namdevrao Wadettiwar told reporters that the opposition is prepared to intensify its campaign after Dussehra, using the festive period to draw greater public attention.
Wadettiwar argued that the removal of the CEC is essential for ensuring impartial elections and protecting the right of citizens to vote without coercion. He cited the earlier resignation of Dharmendra Prasad as evidence that sustained pressure can lead to accountability. The Congress party reiterated that the movement will not cease until Kumar steps down, emphasizing that a free electoral process is the cornerstone of India’s democracy.
