Opposition Accuses Ruling Party of Hindering NEET Discussion in Lok Sabha

New Delhi, July 23 – Members of the opposition challenged the government’s willingness to discuss the NEET paper leak in Parliament. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman reiterated that the fast‑track court will expedite punishment for the perpetrators and that a re‑exam has already been completed.

She questioned why parliamentary proceedings are being obstructed, blaming the Congress party for prioritising political maneuvering over student interests. Sitharaman asserted that the government is ready to bring the matter before the house at any time.

BJP MPs such as Arun Govil and Shrikant Shinde warned that the opposition’s refusal to cooperate signals a broader attempt to create unrest. They accused opposition leaders of seeking to politicise the leak for electoral advantage.

Central Minister Giriraj Singh added that the Prime Minister has reassured students about the integrity of future examinations and condemned attempts to “load the children with questions”. He called for unity on the issue, dismissing partisan distractions.

The session showcased a stark divide, with the ruling party portraying itself as decisive and the opposition demanding accountability through ministerial resignations before any further parliamentary debate.
