Opposition Accuses Karnataka Congress of Ignoring Drought Crisis

R. Ashok, a senior opposition leader, told reporters that the Congress party is staging protests in Bengaluru against the NEP while the state grapples with an unprecedented drought. He claimed that the party’s leadership is more interested in Delhi‑level political theatrics than in addressing the water shortage that has already impacted 175 taluks across Karnataka. Ashok urged the state government to declare a formal drought, allocate ₹20‑₹20 crore for drinking water projects in every constituency areas, and set up a taluk‑level drought task force. He also criticized Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar and other officials for being preoccupied with national politics instead of managing the crisis.
