Opposition Accuses BJP of Targeting NGOs with New FCRA Amendments

TMC MP Mahua Moitra voiced strong objections, claiming that the FCRA Bill is designed to channel all foreign contributions exclusively to the RSS, which she described as an unregistered NGO with vast property holdings across Delhi. She warned that the bill lacks proper audit mechanisms and could shield the organization from scrutiny.

Moitra further alleged that the legislation aims to block funding for NGOs linked to minority religions, such as Christian and Muslim charities, while allowing those associated with the RSS to continue receiving donations. She called the move a direct attack on civil society and religious freedom.

The BJP, however, maintains that the bill seeks to tighten accountability and prevent misuse of foreign funds, asserting that it will benefit the nation's security and financial integrity.
