Opposition Blamed for Street Unrest and Attacks on Constitution, Chauhan Alleges
In a press briefing in Bhopal, Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan leveled serious accusations against opposition parties, claiming they are deliberately fostering unrest on the streets after their repeated electoral setbacks. According to Chauhan, the opposition’s failure to win voter confidence has pushed them toward disruptive protests aimed at destabilising the nation.
He argued that these demonstrations are not genuine expressions of democratic dissent but calculated moves to weaken constitutional institutions, undermine the rule of law and sow distrust among citizens. The minister further suggested that foreign elements are backing the opposition’s anti‑government narrative, though no specific evidence was provided.
Chauhan criticized the opposition’s stance on the Chief Election Commissioner, alleging a lack of respect for the electoral process and a willingness to exploit public spaces for political gain. He warned that such behavior threatens India’s democratic foundations and could create a dangerous precedent of lawlessness.
The minister called on citizens to reject any attempts to undermine the constitution and to continue supporting the government’s development agenda under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s stewardship.
