Opposition's ₹20,000 crore donation claim disputed by VIHP head
New Delhi, July 5 – The Vishwa Hindu Parishad’s international president, Alok Kumar, challenged the opposition’s allegation that over ₹20,000 crore in donations for the Ram Temple project has gone missing. Kumar said that according to the information available to VIHP, no such amount was ever recorded.
The dispute arose after VIHP wrote to the officer investigating the alleged financial irregularities, asking for a probe into accusations made by Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal, senior AAP leader Sanjay Singh, and Samajwadi Party member Ramgopal Yadav.
Kumar pointed out that the individuals named are influential and might have access to confidential details, but he underscored that the opposition must produce concrete documentation if they wish to substantiate the claim.
He urged the police to question Yadav about the origin of his figure and to request any supporting paperwork. "If they have sufficient proof, they can help the ongoing investigation," Kumar said.
Although VIHP has not formally accused any politician, Kumar reiterated that the probe should draw upon any credible information the opposition possesses. He also clarified that the organization’s annual conference, postponed because of logistical constraints tied to the Ayodhya case, will now convene in Delhi.
