Operation Targets Criminal Javed, Recovers Homemade Blade and Rounds

South Delhi’s district police Special Staff Team reported a successful arrest on August 18, detaining 27‑year‑old Dilshad Alam, also known as Javed. The suspect was found in possession of a desi‑style homemade blade and two live cartridges, both of which were confiscated and sealed.

Javed’s criminal dossier includes more than twenty cases ranging from attempted homicide, looting, theft, snatching, to multiple violations of the Arms Act. The latest filing at Tigri police station (FIR 237/2026) cites Sections 25, 54 and 59 of the Arms Act.

Following a tip received on August 15 that Javed would arrive in Devli with illegal weaponry to rendezvous with an associate, Special Staff heightened surveillance and set a strategic trap. The operation culminated in his apprehension without any public disturbance.

The mission was guided by Special Staff In‑charge Inspector Anuj Kumar, with overall supervision from ACP Operations Balram Singh Beniwal. The arrest team comprised ASI Dushant Kumar, Head Constables Yashpal and Praveen Kumar, and Constable Mahendra.

Police are currently questioning the detainee to locate the source of the prohibited arms and to determine the intended purpose of the ammunition. The department emphasized that its anti‑arms initiative will persist to ensure the safety of Delhi’s residents.
