Referencing the recent inauguration of the Lipulekh route in Uttarakhand, Mufti argued that ancient passages such as Khota, Yarkand and Kashgar should be reopened via Ladakh. She noted that Kashmir’s geography positions India as a gateway to Central and South Asia, potentially boosting the regional economy. To achieve this, good relations with both Pakistan and China are essential. Mufti blamed the removal of Article 370 and 35A in 2019 for not resolving local grievances, and warned that the valley still feels like an "open prison". She urged a balanced diplomatic approach to unlock trade corridors and improve mobility for citizens.
