Omar Abdullah Confirms Marriage to Nidhi Razdan on Social Media

Omar Abdullah, the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, has married journalist Nidhi Razdan. The announcement came directly from him on Saturday through his social media account.

On X, Omar Abdullah posted a few photographs of himself with Nidhi Razdan. The caption said a new journey had begun the day before, and he tagged Nidhi Razdan in the post.

The news marks a new beginning for the Chief Minister. He shared it with his supporters and social media friends a day after the wedding.

The development comes three months after the Supreme Court addressed his separation from his estranged wife, Payal Abdullah, and granted a divorce.

On July 31, 2026, the Supreme Court noted that both parties had told the court they had agreed to end their relationship by mutual consent and resolve all pending disputes. They also agreed to withdraw cases filed against one another.

The case went to the Supreme Court after Omar Abdullah challenged a Delhi High Court decision that refused to grant divorce. During the hearing, the couple jointly sought dissolution of marriage by mutual consent under Article 142 of the Constitution.

Senior advocate Kapil Sibal, representing the couple, told the court that they had agreed to settle their differences.

Omar Abdullah and Payal first met at the Oberoi Hotel in Delhi and married in 1994. Their two sons are Zahir and Zameer.

The couple had been living separately since 2009, and Omar Abdullah announced their separation in 2011. The Supreme Court had earlier recognised that they had lived apart for several years.
