Om Birla and Other Ministers Salute Santali Freedom Fighters

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla posted a heartfelt message on X for Hoole Day, describing the Santali uprising as a “great mass movement” that defended water, forest, land and tribal dignity. He honored the thousands of men and women who rallied under Sidho and Kanhu, noting that their defiance gave new energy to India’s broader independence movement.

Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan echoed this sentiment, praising the chant “Angrezon hamari maati chhodo” and calling the rebellion a proud chapter that will motivate future generations to raise their voices against oppression.
