Speaker Om Birla Calls for 33% Seat Reservation for Women

During the inauguration, Lok Sabha speaker Om Birla stressed the need for greater female participation in democratic institutions. He described the constitutional provision for a 33 percent reservation for women in parliamentary and state assemblies as a historic necessity. Birla projected a future where women occupy more than half of public service roles and urged women to engage actively in law‑making to address their concerns directly.
