Old Rivalry Sparks Fatal Shooting in Sangrur, Punjab
A long‑standing enmity between two groups in Punjab’s Sangrur district turned lethal on July 7. Around 1:30 p.m., Dev Kumar and Anil Kumar walked into a barber’s shop on Kakkarwal Road for a routine haircut. Shortly after, a gang of around five youths approached the establishment and opened fire with a sharp‑bladed weapon, inflicting severe injuries on both men. Police arrived on the scene, transported the victims to a medical facility, and after thorough assessment, confirmed both had succumbed to their injuries. The district’s Deputy Superintendent of Police confirmed that the clash was rooted in an old personal feud, though the precise cause of the altercation is still being probed. CCTV footage is under review, and forensic teams have recovered the weapon. Further interrogation of relatives and potential suspects is underway.
