Odisha Election Commission Sets Draft Voter List Deadline for Jan 1, 2027

In a meeting held in Bhubaneswar on July 21, the Odisha State Election Commission fixed clear timelines for the voter‑list preparation ahead of the 2027 local body elections.

State Election Commissioner Madhusudan Padi outlined that the draft booth‑wise voter list will be published on 1 January 2027, giving political parties and the public a chance to raise objections.

The final, error‑free voter list is expected on 10 February 2027, after all claims, objections and corrections have been addressed. The commission will rely on a door‑to‑door household survey that starts in the second week of October, post the Election Commission of India's Special Intensive Revision (SIR).

District collectors and deputy collectors were instructed to oversee the verification process, add eligible new voters, delete deceased or disqualified names, and employ de‑duplication mechanisms if deemed necessary.

The SEC also emphasized that all election officials must undergo thorough training to guarantee that the polling process runs without hitches on election day.
