Odisha CM Announces Automated Transfer of Spousal Support from State Employees’ Pay

Bhubaneswar, August 30 – The Odisha chief minister has issued an order mandating that all maintenance and alimony payments ordered by courts be automatically deducted from the salaries of government staff and transferred to the entitled spouses or children. The decision comes after repeated complaints that several male employees were ignoring court orders, leaving their families financially vulnerable.

The directive places responsibility on the Drawing and Disbursing Officer to deduct the court‑specified amount while preparing the monthly salary bill. The funds will be routed through electronic banking channels directly to the beneficiary’s account, ensuring prompt delivery.

To streamline the process, the government is linking these cases with the Human Resource Management System (HRMS). This integration will allow real‑time monitoring, reduce manual intervention, and guarantee that every court order is honored without delay.
