NSUI and Independents Split Wins in Odisha Colleges, Seven Each
The National Students Union of India (NSUI) and independent candidates each secured victories in seven educational institutions during Odisha's campus elections. Their performance placed them ahead of other smaller groups but far behind the ABVP and BCJD.
According to the official tally, the 153 colleges that reported results produced 1,398 elected candidates, with the NSUI and independents contributing a modest share. Both groups relied on contested elections, as none of their winners were unopposed.
The voting schedule covered 332 colleges and universities, with polls opening at 8 a.m. and closing at 2 p.m. In total, 6,696 candidates contested the seats, including 6,358 from colleges and 338 from universities. The process remained largely orderly, with only a few localized disturbances.
At the university level, the NSUI and independents did not manage to win any of the seven university contests, which were dominated by the ABVP.
These results complete the first campus elections in eight years, setting the tone for student governance in the 2026‑27 session.
