A severe heatwave is gripping North India, with temperatures reaching critical levels in several regions. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a Red Alert for Delhi, forecasting extreme heat conditions from June 12th to 14th. Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Jammu-Kashmir are also expected to experience scorching temperatures. Residents are urged to take precautions against heat-related illnesses. The IMD further predicts hot and humid conditions in Himachal Pradesh, West & East Rajasthan, West Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Assam, Meghalaya, and Arunachal Pradesh. Warm nights are also anticipated in Assam and Meghalaya this week. The current heatwave follows a comparatively cooler May, with the lack of rainfall in June contributing to the rapid temperature increase.
