Non-Local Labourers' Safety Prioritized in Post-Attack Conference in Srinagar

Srinagar, August 1 – After the Kulgam district ambush that killed two migrant laborers, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha led a high‑profile security summit, focusing on the safety of workers from outside Jammu and Kashmir.

The meeting, attended by the chief secretary, DGP, and senior police leadership, resulted in a mandate for all employers to secure insurance coverage for each migrant employee and to maintain an up‑to‑date ledger of their identities with local law enforcement.

Sinha called for an accelerated, precise anti‑terror operation aimed at dismantling the hybrid tactics employed by militants, who are increasingly targeting non‑local workers, street vendors, drivers and skilled artisans.

He also ordered that the families of the victims receive all possible assistance and that the deceased receive dignified funeral arrangements. Security protocols for the ongoing Amarnath pilgrimage were reviewed and reinforced.
