No Injuries Reported as IndiGo Flight Strikes Guidance System Pole in Srinagar

Srinagar Airport witnessed a minor mishap on September 4 when an IndiGo flight, 6E 225, made contact with a pole of the Visual Docking Guidance System (VDGS) during its parking sequence. The pole, which contains a visual display and laser‑camera sensors, assists pilots in aligning the aircraft precisely.

The aircraft had landed from Navi Mumbai and was being guided to bay 6. At approximately 09:02, the plane brushed against the VDGS pole, triggering safety measures. Airport officials quickly evacuated all passengers and crew using portable stairs, ensuring a smooth and injury‑free exit.

Authorities emphasized that the incident caused no harm to anyone on board, and normal flight operations continued without interruption. An investigative team has been assigned to examine the cause, focusing on both human factors and equipment performance.

This occurrence follows a recent diversion of an IndiGo flight to Muscat after the pilot fell ill mid‑flight. The airline arranged an alternate aircraft and crew to minimize passenger inconvenience, highlighting its commitment to safety and service continuity.
