No Need for Delimitation Bill, Says Congress Leader Chidambaram

During a press briefing, Congress MP P. Chidambaram dismissed the necessity of a new delimitation bill. He asserted that the present representation of each state should not be reduced and that the proposed legislation would unfairly punish states that have implemented family‑planning programmes with integrity and consensus. Chidambaram asked why such states were being penalised and urged the Parliament to drop the bill altogether.
