Nirupam Defends Women's Freedom While Urging Decency in Media

Nirupam also addressed recent controversies involving Bollywood actress Kriti Sanon, whose attire in a Rakhi advertisement drew criticism from BJP MP Kangana Ranaut and prompted a defence from opposition leader Rahul Gandhi in Parliament. He affirmed that the party respects women’s choices and their right to freedom. "The nation, society and the world stand with women as they move forward," he said, adding that historic restrictions that kept women behind curtains are no longer acceptable. However, he cautioned that freedom must be balanced with modesty, urging the media and artists to avoid vulgarity and uphold decency while exercising creative liberty.
