NIA’s latest arrests bring total detainees to 24 in Nettaru killing probe
The recent arrests of Abdul Nasir and Noshad have increased the tally of suspects held in the Praveen Nettaru murder investigation to 24, according to NIA officials. While the agency celebrates the capture of these two fugitives, it also notes that three alleged conspirators are still evading law enforcement.
The case revolves around the murder of Praveen Nettaru, a regional BJP leader, whose death on July 26, 2022, sparked a series of revenge attacks and communal clashes in Karnataka. Intelligence reports suggest that the killing was orchestrated by a clandestine PFI‑affiliated assassin gang with the objective of fomenting communal violence.
NIA’s special court in Bengaluru had earlier issued look‑out circulars and arrest warrants for the accused. A reward of INR 400,000 per informant has been declared to encourage public assistance in locating the remaining at‑large suspects.
