The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has apprehended two Kashmiri locals in connection with the deadly Pahalgam attack, which resulted in the death of 26 tourists. The arrests, made on Sunday, June 22, 2025, are a significant breakthrough in the investigation. Parvaiz Ahmad Jothar and Bashir Ahmad Jothar are accused of providing shelter and assistance to the three Pakistani terrorists responsible for the killings. The NIA confirmed that the terrorists were affiliated with Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT). The arrested individuals are alleged to have provided food, shelter, and logistical support to the terrorists at a seasonal hut in Hill Park before the attack, which targeted victims based on their religious identity. The suspects have been arrested under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967. The NIA continues its investigation into the case, registered as RC-02/2025/NIA/JMU, following the attack on April 22.
