New Six‑Lane Link to Reduce Travel Time Between NH‑19 and Kashi Station
The Economic Affairs Cabinet Committee, chaired by the Prime Minister, has sanctioned a 46.039‑kilometre connector that will bind NH‑19 with the Varanasi Ring Road. This six‑lane elevated corridor, flanked by a distinguished cable‑stay bridge and multiple foot overpasses, aims to cut travel time dramatically.
Designed for a cruising speed of up to 100 km/h, the link will feature dedicated ramps, loop roads, and service lanes to manage traffic flow efficiently. Upon completion, commuters are expected to see journey durations shrink from one hour to just twenty minutes between key points, while the route from the highway to Kashi Railway Station will be halved from fifty minutes to twenty‑five.
The project, funded through a hybrid annuity arrangement, reflects a strategic push to modernise Varanasi's transport matrix, reinforcing its status as a cultural hub while bolstering regional commerce.
