New Scheme Lets Anganwadi Employees Receive Extra Saree, Costing ₹19 Crore

Uttar Pradesh’s latest welfare initiative ensures that each Anganwadi teacher and helper will be supplied with an additional saree each year. The move addresses practical challenges such as regular wear, washing, and damage caused by adverse weather. Finance Minister Suresh Khanna indicated that the state will allocate Rs 19.02 crore to fund the third saree for all 3,80,290 staff members, maintaining the existing two‑saree grant provided through the central‑state partnership.
