New Religious Board in Ayodhya Seen as Unnecessary by Senior Cleric

Ayodhya, July 23 — Senior priest Mahant Dharmdas has voiced strong objections to the newly constituted religious board of the Ram Temple Trust, calling it an unwarranted addition to an already complex situation.

He highlighted that the Supreme Court’s rulings continue to govern all issues linked to the Ram Janmabhoomi, and that the trust’s existing framework is sufficient for managing the site’s affairs. Dharmdas warned that the board could generate further controversy and divert attention from the essential worship activities.

The cleric also raised doubts about the authenticity of the board’s members, noting a lack of clear information about which Ayodhya saints are truly represented. According to him, claims by a few individuals to be part of the committee do not reflect the broader sanctified tradition.

He argued that the trust should focus on its established responsibilities rather than creating new power structures that may lead to exploitation and confusion among devotees.

Dharmdas concluded that any measures affecting the sacredness of Ayodhya must be grounded in legitimate authority and respect for long‑standing traditions, ensuring that Lord Ram’s service remains the foremost objective.
