New projects and finished works must receive equal oversight, says Gujarat CM

Gujarat’s Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel addressed municipal leaders, urging them to treat the monitoring of new development projects and the review of completed works with the same level of diligence. He emphasized that the proper utilization of taxpayer money depends on continuous oversight throughout a project’s lifecycle.

Speaking at a fund‑distribution ceremony in Gandhinagar, Patel announced the allocation of ₹3,850 crore for urban development across 17 municipal corporations and 152 municipalities. He called for joint site visits by elected officials and administrators to verify that construction adheres to the required standards and that completed projects are maintained properly.

The CM highlighted the state’s financial health, crediting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s fiscal policies for eliminating resource constraints. He also instructed that new city roads be built with reinforced cement concrete (RCC) and that urban cleanliness be prioritized, with strict action against any negligence.

Patel concluded by underscoring a new green‑area policy that earmarks about one percent of land in future town‑planning schemes for tree planting, encouraging the development of public gardens, parks, and oxygen parks.
