New Medical College in Bongai Gaon Marks Progress in Rural Healthcare

The inauguration of Bongai Gaon Medical College represents a significant step in Assam’s effort to decentralise medical education and health services. Chief Minister Sarma noted that the college will serve patients from Bongai Gaon and surrounding districts, reducing reliance on hospitals in Guwahati. He also pointed out that the state aims to establish at least one medical college in every district, a goal that aligns with the plan to increase the number of specialised doctors and health‑care professionals across rural areas.
